ATHENA, THE GREEK GODDESS OF DOMESTIC ARTS

By how much the men are expert above all other men
in propelling a swift ship on the sea, by thus much the women
are skilled at the loom, for Athena has given to them beyond all others
a knowledge of beautiful craftwork, and noble minds.--Homer, Odyssey, 7.108-11

Prince Devin at age 3 in his "suit of armor" with the embroidered Rich Family Crest copied on satin. I used a silver skirt and top to create the hood, pants and shirt. The tunic of fake leopard fur has a cape of navy fabric with the constellations in gold attached at the shoulders. The helmet, shield and sword are purchased as are the work boots and glow-in-the-dark fake vampire teeth!

Princess Caitlyn at age 3 in her "Poor Little Rich Girl" reversible dress-up pinafore. I used fabrics from my collection to fashion the dress using black velvet, red satin, black and white striped cotton and various trims and notions. The lacing effect down the front bodice is gold fabric paint and I sewed on little red ribbon rosebuds!

PINK CHAMPAGNE

Verve Clicquot Ponsardin Rosé in an antique Champagne coupe with a floating strawberry, the fruit of Venus! Legend has it that the Champagne coupe was made from a mold of Marie Antoinette's (and many other women before and after her) breast...but it is not true!
